I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love Adele. Not only has she got a great voice, her lyrics and melodies resonate with so many people. All her songs are special but I find this one: “Set Fire to the Rain” especially powerful.
I therefore decided that I wanted to share the song with you. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, songs are a wonderfully fun way for learners to practise their listening and pronunciation skills.
In this song, there are many parts of the body that are mentioned. I have blanked out all references to them from the lyrics. I have listed them at the end, though, in no particular order.
This is what I’d like you to do:
3. Listen again and check your answers.
And as it fell you rose to claim it
It was dark and I was over
Until you kissed my and you saved me
But my were far too weak,
To stand in your
Without falling to your But there’s a side to you
That I never knew, never knew.
All the things you’d say
They were never true, never true,
And the games you play
You would always win, always win.
Watched it pour as I touched your ,
Well, it burned while I cried
‘Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name!
I could stay there
Close my
Feel you here forever
You and me together
Nothing is better
That I never knew, never knew,
All the things you’d say,
They were never true, never true,
And the games you’d play
You would always win, always win.
Watched it pour as I touched your ,
Well, it burned while I cried
‘Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name!
When it fell, something died
‘Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time!
That you caught must be waiting for you
Even now when we’re already over
I can’t help myself from looking for you.
Watched it pour as I touched your ,
Well, it burned while I cried
‘Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name
And I threw us into the flames
When it fell, something died
‘Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time, ohhhh!
Let it burn, oh
Let it burn
Let it burn
Parts of the Body: face, eyes, feet, lips, arms, hands, heart, knees
