What is your perfect day? I was thinking about this the other day. And as the brain cells were working this wonderful song came to me: “A Perfect Day” by Lou Reed. He first recorded it in 1972. In 1997, the BBC released a new version with Lou Reed and other famous singers like David Bowie, Bono and Boyzone. This is the version I’ve added here. I absolutely love this song. I’d love to know what you think.
This is what I’d like you to do:
1. Listen to the song first and enjoy the melody.
2. Listen to it again and this time follow it with the lyrics.
3. Listen again and this time try to do the gap fill exercise.
4. I’ve given you some help by writing the missing words in bold below the lyrics.
5. Check your answers, listen again and think of what your perfect day would be.
And then later
when it gets _______, we go home
feed ________ in the zoo
Then later
a movie, too, and then ______
I’m glad I ________ it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me _______ ___
You just keep me _______ ___
________ all left alone
Weekenders on our own
it’s such fun
you made me ______ myself
I thought I was
someone else, someone ______
I’m glad I spent it with you
Oh, such a perfect day
You just keep me hanging on
You just keep me hanging on
You’re going to reap just what you sow
You’re going to reap just what you sow
You’re going to reap just what you sow
