It’s time for me to take a couple of weeks off over this Christmas season. I am very excited as my father and his wife are flying over from Malaysia to celebrate Christmas with David and me. I haven’t seen my father since 2010 so I am delighted I will get to spend some time with him. The mince pies are ready, the turkey bought and the salmon lasagne is all ready to make for Christmas Eve. All I need to do now is to wrap the presents.
As we always do, we will have an Italian Christmas Eve and a British Christmas Day. New Year’s Eve will probably have a Sri Lankan theme to it!
My mother is spending Christmas with my sister and her family in California, USA whilst my brother is staying in Malaysia. Yes, I have a truly international family. Despite the distance, we are an extremely close-knit family.
I will be back just before the end of 2013 to reflect on the last year and to welcome in the new year.
What are your plans for the festive season? Whatever they are, I hope that for those of you who celebrate Christmas it will be a most joyous time.
I wish you a most wonderful Christmas. May it be filled with great joy and much laughter.
In the meantime, I will leave you to enjoy my absolute favourite Christmas song: “Driving Home for Christmas” by Chris Rea.
Back on 31 December 2013.
Ciao for now.
